Zamorano Fine Arts Academy is a K-5 Visual Arts Magnet School. Our school is an exciting and innovative place for children to learn and grow. Zamorano provides students with an excellent opportunity to learn various art forms along side a standards based curriculum. In addition, students have the opportunity to learn from various resident artists. Zamorano's instructional program has consistently resulted in increased student achievement gains over the last 5 consecutive years. As a result, Zamorano's similar school API ranking has increased from a 2 to a 9 ranking (on a scale of 1-10). Professional development and continual improvement lie at the core of everything we do for our students and community. Zamorano was designated a California Distinguished School in 1993 and Former President Clinton signed the Goals 2000: Educate American Act at Zamorano in March 1994. Our teacher acheivements include 2001 San Diego Math Teacher, the 2005-2006 Technology Golden Mouse Award and four teachers have earned National Board Certification. Zamorano was also the recipient of the California Department of Education Title I Acheivement Award in 2006 and 2007. Other recognitions include the Urban League Best Academic Practices Award and the Everyone a Reader Diamond Award. Zamorano is a special place for children to learn. We offer an enthusiastic staff, wonderful facilities, high standards, excellent teaching practices, a supportive parent community, innovative art department, and excellent programs and school events. |
